Giving Thanks With Painted Rocks

Each month the Herrick Library is providing free craft kits. Regularly creating crafts can bring health benefits such as improved mood, increased focus and better sleep. Why not give it a try with November’s kit of Giving Thanks with Painted Rocks? Based on the nationwide phenomenon of the Kindness Rocks project, the library is starting its very own community Health Rocks garden. Create a rock to share or take a rock for inspiration.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on how grateful you are for the good things in life. This year it is especially important to remember the positives given the challenges of the pandemic. Who are you thankful for? Do you want to say thanks to a friend or family member? Or share your gratitude for our healthcare heroes and essential service workers? Paint a rock and place it out in front of your place to brighten someone’s day, give it as a gift, or contribute it to the Library’s community rock garden. Thank you for helping to spread thanks and positivity during these hard times!

CALL FOR ROCKS TO SAY THANK YOU TO OUR HEALTHCARE WORKERS FOR THANKSGIVING WEEK!
Whether you pick up a craft kit or not, consider leaving a painted rock with your words of thanks and gratitude, or a healthcare theme and place them in the Library’s community rock garden at 9001 Wakarusa St. by Thanksgiving. There are many local healthcare heroes who walk by the Library building every day, and your artwork will remind them that someone cares and that they are appreciated!
