Health Reference Center Academic (Infotrac) - Multi-source website providing access to full-text of nursing and allied health journals, plus a wide variety of personal health information sources that offer reliable health information to researchers and students.
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality: Nursing Research - AHRQ is a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Site includes information on evidence-based resources for nurses, the impact of working conditions on patient safety, resource links for nurses, and reports on research findings related to the nursing profession.
Allnurses.com - Large online community of nurses and nursing students that offers the latest nursing news, discussions, blogs, and articles about working conditions, nursing employment, nursing specialties, student nursing, working as a traveling nurse, international work, and more. Access to most content requires registration and access to all content requires a paid membership.
American Academy of Nurse Practitioners - AANP is a full-service national professional membership organization for nurse practitioners of all specialties. Includes information about NPs and career resources. Click here for AANP Region 9 (includes California).
American Nurses Association - ANA is a full-service professional organization representing the interests of the nation's 3.1 million registered nurses. Site includes information on career and credentialing, nursing practice, ethics, and workplace safety. Includes video section with career information for students as well as nurses. National Institute of Nursing Research - One of the National Institutes of Health, NINR works to improve the health and health care of Americans through the funding of nursing research and research training. NINR supports research in a number of science areas. Site provides information on research and training opportunities, as well as publications, multimedia, and news.
National League for Nursing - NLN promotes excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce to advance the nation's health. Information for nurse educators including certification, faculty programs, and education resources. National Student Nurses Association - NSNA mentors the professional development of future registered nurses and facilitates their entrance into the profession by providing educational resources, leadership opportunities, and career guidance. Nursing on the Net: Health Care Resources You Can Use - The National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM.gov) maintains a “web sampler of resources for nursing professionals.” Site provides links to alternative medicine resources, associations and organizations, continuing education, disease resources, discussion groups, evidence-based nursing, multicultural resources, nursing standards, and state resources.

American Medical Association: Education and Careers - Provides information about medical education and other healthcare professions. Health Care Careers Directory lists information about more than 80 careers and 8,600 accredited education programs.
California Health Care Careers - The State of California Employment Development Department profiles 48 health care occupations and offers brief descriptions, wages, outlook, requirements, sources of further information, and career growth possibilities.
ExploreHealthCareers.org - Interactive health careers website designed to explain the array of health professions and provide easy access to students seeking information about health careers. Includes information on and links to education/training programs, financial aid resources, specialized learning opportunities, and current issues in health care. Site is owned by the American Dental Education Association but is a joint initiative of foundations, associations, educational institutions, and others.

Health Resources and Services Administration: Health Professions - Part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, HRSA's Health Professions programs provide policy leadership and grant support for workforce development. Includes training programs, scholarships, loans, and loan repayments for health professions students and practitioners. Programs cover nursing, medicine, geriatrics & allied health, public health & preventive medicine, and dentistry.

Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11 Edition - A U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics compilation that details the training and education needed, earnings, what workers do, etc. for hundreds of jobs, including the healthcare field. See health diagnosing and treating practitioners and health technologists and technicians.
San Diego Nursing Service-Education Consortium - SDNSEC was formed with the goal of coordinating the clinical placement process in order to mutually benefit both nursing service providers (agencies) and nursing programs. Contains links and information about many local nursing programs both public and private.
